The 2010 PGA Golf Show took place during this last weekend at Country Club Johannesburg and, by all accounts, was bigger and better than the first visit to its new home in 2009.
Thanks to great weather, fantastic media support and excellent professional golf on show at the Telkom PGA Championship, visitor numbers were very impressive and the PGA Learning Centre did a roaring “trade”.
On offer at the PGA Learning Centre were swing-analysis lessons with the assistance of Webswing, putting lessons, swing-plane instruction on the Explanar and, for the younger golfers, SNAG and Wii golf.
In all, eight PGA professionals and apprentices gave in excess of 250 lessons to visitors, both outside on the range and inside in the nets at the PGA Learning Centre. The PGA of South Africa would like to acknowledge and thank Pat Lowth, Greg Smith, Andrew Corthing, Linda Liebenberg, Julie Bruyns, Lee von Reuben, Antonio Santo and Gordon Millar who gave of their time to ensure that visitors received expert instruction and explanations.
The PGA Learning Centre is a relatively new initiative in South Africa and is modelled directly on what is done in the USA at the PGA Championship and by other PGAs around the world. The PGA of South Africa’s Learning Centre is a resource that can quickly and easily be moved around the country and can be made available to all interested golfing bodies in South Africa.
