PGA's new Interclub a success
ST FRANCIS (31 March 2015) - Following on from the success of the Southern and Eastern Cape Interclub at St Francis Links in March, the PGA of South Africa has expanded its new Interclub tournaments to all five of its regions this year.
The concept of the Interclub tournaments, sponsored by Europe's leading airline Turkish Airlines, was designed to find more synergy between the PGA of South Africa and golf clubs in the regions.
As explained by Nic Grundtvig, the PGA's Southern and Eastern Cape Regional Chairman, the Interclub is designed to help the PGA to create greater value for golf clubs around the country through its highly successful Partners and Affiliates programme.
"Companies want to associate with golf clubs, and as a respected brand in South African golf the PGA is there to facilitate this, from better insurance options to more competitive catering solutions for the clubs. The PGA has developed very strong commercial partnerships that can benefit the golf clubs as well."
The Interclub format sees each golf club represented by the club captain, president, general manager and club professional in a one-day competition.
"The strength of our brand is highlighted by the association with the many affiliates we have signed partnership agreements with. If corporations such as these see value in associating with the PGA, it proves that the corporate world believes in the direction the association is heading and sees it as a conduit to promote their own goods and services to a largely affluent market. So, the purpose of the Interclub is primarily to make clubs aware of the benefits of the affiliates program, to promote the PGA brand to golf clubs and finally to make the PGA member understand what a vital link he/she is in this chain," said Grundtvig.
